About Gamal Kamel

Gamal Kamel 1926 – 1986

Born in Assyout, Upper Egypt. He spent his childhood and youth in Beny Sweif (Egyptian city). His natural outstanding talent in drawing appeared since he was a little child.

He moved to Cairo and decided to enrich his talent with education at the Faculty of Fine Arts and since then he held the first rank academically, till he received his bachelor degree with highest honors 1948.

He was mentored by “Ahmed Sabry” the pioneer of portrait art in Egypt, and “Youssef Kamel” the first expressionist Egyptian artist.

He started his life journey as a journalist and a painter at “Dar El Helal” foundation.

In 1950, he moved to “Rosa El Youssef” foundation which is the phase through which he added an extraordinarily and different vision reflecting the fusion of journalism and art along 40 years.

He participated in a lot of group and private exhibitions in Egypt and abroad.
